Professor Le Dourain is a renowned french devolpmental biologist, pioneer in embryo manipulation technology. She conducted the main studies that shed light on the development of higher animal nervous and immune systems. The quail-chick marking system, devised by Le Douarin in 1969, conducted the main studies that shed light on the development of higher animal nervous and immune systems. Among the decades of professional experience, dozens of prizes and honors received, hundreds of high quality research papers published, professor Le Douarin and her team collaborated with several brazilian research groups and played important roles to the establishment of Brazil-France cooperation programs, as well as to the development of developmental biology both in Brazil and France. She has received distinctive awards and is member of both Brazilian and French Academy of Sciences.
